Benster Privacy Policy

JP4 LABS LLC (“we,” “us,” or “our”) operates the Benster mobile application and website. This Privacy Policy explains how information is handled when you use the Benster app, join the Benster waitlist, participate in beta testing, or contact us.

1. Information Stored on Your Device

Benster provides timed math practice without requiring an online account.

The app stores information locally on your device to personalize practice and display progress, including:

  • An optional nickname.

  • Practice preferences, such as sprint duration, input style, card layout, and Level Up settings.

  • Completed sprint records, including questions, submitted answers, correctness, and response times.

  • Scores, accuracy, practice pace, levels reached, and sprint dates and times.

  • Information used to calculate personal bests, practice history, and practice streaks.

  • Whether onboarding has been completed.

You can use Benster without entering a nickname. We recommend entering a nickname rather than a full legal name.

This information is not automatically uploaded to JP4 LABS LLC or stored on servers operated by us.

2. Website and Waitlist

If you join the Benster waitlist through our website, we collect the email address you voluntarily provide.

We use your email address to:

  • Confirm or manage your waitlist subscription.

  • Provide Benster launch and availability updates.

  • Send product news or testing opportunities that you requested.

  • Respond to related questions.

We use Loops, operated by Astrodon Corporation, to manage waitlist contacts and send email communications. Loops processes and stores your email address on our behalf.

Loops may also process information related to email delivery and engagement, such as:

  • Whether an email was delivered or bounced.

  • Whether you unsubscribed.

  • Whether a marketing email was opened.

  • Whether a link in a marketing email was selected.

You can unsubscribe from marketing emails at any time by using the unsubscribe link included in the message. You may also contact us to request removal of your email address from the waitlist.

Loops handles information under its own privacy and security terms. You can review the Loops Privacy Policy.

Our website host may process limited technical information, such as an IP address, browser type, device type, access time, and security logs, to deliver and protect the website. We do not use this information to create advertising profiles.

The Benster waitlist is intended for parents, guardians, educators, and other adults. Children should not submit their own email addresses.

3. Accounts, Advertising, and App Analytics

The current version of Benster does not provide:

  • Online user accounts.

  • Developer-operated cloud synchronization.

  • Third-party advertising.

  • Targeted advertising.

  • Advertising tracking.

  • Third-party product-usage analytics.

  • Online leaderboards.

  • Public profiles or social sharing of practice records.

The app does not require access to your precise location, contacts, camera, microphone, or photo library.

Our website waitlist and email communications are separate from the locally stored practice information in the Benster app. Joining the waitlist is optional and is not required to use the app.

4. Support and Feedback

If you contact us by email, we receive your email address and any information you voluntarily include, such as your message, device information, or screenshots.

We use this information to:

  • Respond to your request.

  • Troubleshoot reported problems.

  • Improve Benster.

  • Protect the app, website, and users from misuse or security problems.

Our email provider processes communications to deliver and store messages.

Please do not include sensitive information or unnecessary information about a child in a support request. Parents or guardians should contact us on behalf of a child.

5. TestFlight Beta Testing

If you install Benster through Apple TestFlight, Apple automatically collects certain beta-testing information, including crash logs and app usage information, and may share relevant information with JP4 LABS LLC as the application provider.

We may also receive feedback and screenshots that you submit through TestFlight. Depending on how you joined the beta and submitted feedback, your name or email address may be available to us.

We use TestFlight information only to evaluate, troubleshoot, secure, and improve Benster. We do not use it for targeted advertising.

Apple controls information retained within TestFlight. Any separate copies retained by JP4 LABS LLC are kept only as long as reasonably necessary for beta testing, troubleshooting, security, and resolving reported issues.

TestFlight feedback should be submitted by a parent, guardian, or adult tester.

6. How We Share Information

We do not sell or rent personal information. We do not use personal information for targeted advertising.

The nickname and practice records stored locally by Benster are not automatically shared with JP4 LABS LLC, Loops, or other companies.

We may provide information to service providers only when reasonably necessary to operate our website, waitlist, email communications, support, or beta testing. Current relevant providers may include:

  • Loops for waitlist management and email delivery.

  • Our website-hosting provider for website delivery, reliability, and security.

  • Our email provider for support communications.

  • Apple for App Store and TestFlight services.

We require service providers handling information on our behalf to process it only for the services they provide and to maintain protections appropriate to the information involved.

We may also disclose information we possess when reasonably necessary to comply with applicable law or valid legal process, investigate fraud or security incidents, or protect the rights and safety of JP4 LABS LLC, Benster users, or others.

7. Retention and Deletion

Information stored in the Benster app

Locally stored practice information remains on your device between app sessions unless you delete it, uninstall Benster, or your device or operating system removes it.

Within Benster, you can:

  • Add, change, or remove your nickname in Settings.

  • Change your practice preferences.

  • Review your history and progress.

  • Select Settings → Saved data → Delete all saved data to remove your nickname, preferences, sprint history, personal bests, and records used to calculate practice streaks from the app’s local storage.

Selecting Reset practice defaults changes practice settings but does not delete your nickname or saved progress.

Your device or backup provider may include app information in device backups, depending on your settings. Deleting information inside Benster does not necessarily remove copies contained in existing device backups. Backup retention and deletion are controlled through your device or backup provider.

Because JP4 LABS LLC does not receive your locally stored practice records, we cannot access, recover, or remotely delete those records for you.

Waitlist and email information

We retain your waitlist email address until you unsubscribe, ask us to delete it, or the waitlist and related communications are no longer needed.

After an unsubscribe request, we or Loops may retain limited suppression information when necessary to ensure that additional marketing emails are not sent to the unsubscribed address.

Support and beta information

We retain support communications and beta-testing information only as long as reasonably necessary to respond, troubleshoot issues, maintain security, improve Benster, and satisfy applicable legal obligations.

8. Your Choices and Requests

You may:

  • Use Benster without providing a nickname.

  • Change or remove your locally stored nickname.

  • Delete locally stored app information through Settings.

  • Decline to join the website waitlist.

  • Unsubscribe from marketing communications.

  • Request access to, correction of, or deletion of information you submitted directly to JP4 LABS LLC.

To make a privacy request, contact us using the email address below. We may need to verify that the request concerns your information before completing it.

Depending on where you live, applicable law may provide additional privacy rights. We will respond to valid requests as required by applicable law.

9. Children’s Privacy

Benster is designed for math learners, including children.

The current app does not require a child to create an online account or send a nickname or practice records to JP4 LABS LLC. The optional nickname and practice progress remain locally on the device, subject to the backup behavior described above.

Parents and guardians can review information stored in the app and delete it through Settings.

The website waitlist, support communications, and beta feedback are intended for parents, guardians, educators, and adult testers. Children should not submit their own:

  • Full name.

  • Email address.

  • Physical address.

  • Photograph.

  • Contact information.

  • School information.

  • Other unnecessary personal information.

If you believe a child has provided personal information directly to us, please contact us. We will review the situation and take appropriate action, including deletion where required.

10. Data Security

Benster uses local app storage and relies on protections provided by your device and operating system. The local database does not have a separate application-level encryption layer and should not be used to store sensitive information.

We take reasonable administrative and technical precautions with waitlist, support, and beta-testing information available to us. However, no electronic storage or transmission method can be guaranteed to be completely secure.

Please protect access to your device and avoid entering sensitive information as a nickname or including it in feedback.

11. International Processing

JP4 LABS LLC is located in the United States.

Our service providers may process waitlist, email, support, website, or beta information in the United States or other countries where they operate. Privacy protections and government-access rules in those countries may differ from those in your country.

Where required, we take reasonable steps designed to ensure that service providers process information consistently with this Privacy Policy and applicable law.

12. Do Not Track and Cross-Service Tracking

Benster does not track users’ app activities over time across third-party applications, websites, or online services for targeted advertising.

The Benster app therefore does not respond differently to browser “Do Not Track” signals. We do not knowingly permit third parties to collect personally identifiable information through the app for cross-service tracking or targeted advertising.

Our website host may process ordinary technical requests necessary to deliver and protect the website. Waitlist email engagement may be processed by Loops as described in Section 2.

13. External Services and Links

Our app, website, or emails may link to external services that we do not operate. Those services handle information under their own privacy policies and terms.

JP4 LABS LLC is not responsible for the privacy practices of independently operated external services.

14. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy as Benster develops or as our information-handling practices and legal obligations change.

When we update the policy, we will post the revised version on this page and change the “Last updated” date. Where required by applicable law, we will provide additional notice or obtain consent before materially different information practices take effect.
